Choosing Your Wedding Ceremony Music

Live music for your wedding ceremony is never a wrong choice! It can create such a sweet ambiance for you and your guests. By this point you have most likely already chosen your musicians and know what instruments will be playing during the processional and recessional. Now you just need to give them the list of songs you are wanting to be played.

Figuring out music for each part of the wedding ceremony - making sure it's dramatic yet sweet enough to make your guests cry those happy tears as you make your way down the aisle - can be a bit of a stress trigger. We know you want every second of your big day to be special, so here are some tips to think over when picking out music as you say “I Do!”

What songs are the most meaningful to your relationship?

Choose music that has meaning to you and your future spouse! Let your musicians know the history between you and your partner; tell them the first tune you both danced to on a date, or cooked to together, or a song that happens to resemble the path of your relationship together. All of those factors can be ultra important when choosing songs to play at your wedding ceremony!

What vibe are you going for?

Choosing your ceremony music depends on the ambiance and mood you’re wanting to create during the experience for both you and your guests. For example, acoustic covers of Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz or John Mayer are perfect for a modern, romantic feel for the prelude. It could be followed by an instrumental version of “I Was Made For Loving You” during the processional and “You Make My Dreams Come True” for the recessional to tie it all together for a mix of sweet and celebratory vibes while still keeping a modern and elegant touch with your live musicians!

Do the music lyrics work well with the mood?

This may come off as a no-brainer, but it is a must when choosing songs for your ceremony: make sure you understand the lyrics! It could be really awkward to play a song that SOUNDS romantic, but really is about a breakup or jealousy. You want to start your marriage with sweet feelings and memories, so be sure the songs you choose have the appropriate lyrics that bring up all the positive wedding feels!
