Taking On A Phased Approach With The Guest List
As the pandemic continues to affect the number of guests allowed to gather at the same location, couples with larger guest lists have gotten even more creative with their wedding planning. In certain cities where the venue capacity allowance is down to 50 or fewer guests, the bride and groom can opt for a “phased approach” for their wedding ceremony and reception.
With this new approach, the guest list is split into smaller groups (group size dependent on social gathering rules of that specific area), with each group attending the wedding at different time frames. For example, there could be a group invited to attend the ceremony and cocktail hour with light hors d’oeuvres. As that group leaves, the second wave of guests would arrive for the dinner and dancing portion of the night.
This creative solution could be the perfect answer for how to manage a larger guest list! Depending on the situation, we’d recommend this phased approach for a variety of reasons.
-
It allows the bride and groom to be able to celebrate with either all or the majority of their guest list, and hopefully prevents them from having to make too many cuts to their guest list.
-
The approach can be scheduled to protect guests who are at a higher risk of developing serious symptoms from coronavirus. These guests can be scheduled to arrive in a smaller group size in which it’s easier to socially distance, and at an earlier time when they can avoid a crowded dance floor.
-
The bride and groom would still be able to have the dancing portion of their wedding.
-
The phased approach also makes it easier for the newlyweds to make their rounds throughout the day and interact with all of their guests in this more intimate setting.
